CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- There’s a report Monday morning that the Chicago Cubs are considering launching a streaming service for those who have “cut the cord” and do not have cable TV.

The Chicago Cubs reportedly would team with its Marquee Network partner Sinclair Broadcasting to start a streaming service as soon as next season.

Sinclair Broadcasting recently secured the rights to air the games of several other teams, including the Milwaukee Brewers and Detroit Tigers. Streaming games is reportedly part of those deals.

According to the New York Post, Major League Baseball is not keen on that prospect, especially given Sinclair Broadcasting’s financial situation. MLB also reportedly does not think the initial price tag being floated - $18 a month for subscribers - would be a winning price, saying that it would only attract the most diehard of fans.

A Chicago Cubs spokesman said the team does not plan to respond to the report.
