(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A measles case confirmed in suburban Cook County is linked to a migrant shelter in the city of Chicago, health officials said Friday.

Dr. LaMar Hasbrouck, chief operating officer for the Cook County Department of Public Health, said a child in an unspecified area in suburban Cook County was diagnosed with measles after moving from a migrant shelter in the city of Chicago.

He said health officials are working to identify anyone who might have been exposed to measles after contact with the child, who is no longer contagious.

Chicago public health officials say the majority of the 52 cases of measles confirmed in the city are associated with a migrant shelter on Halsted Street in Pilsen. They say migrants did not bring measles to the city.

More than 5,000 migrants have been vaccinated to reduce the risk of measles spreading, officials said.
