The mayor of south suburban Dolton is not ruling out the village buying the childhood home of Pope Leo.

A rehabber bought the home on 141st Place for 66-thousand dollars and had offered it for sale for 219-thousand before Pope Leo was elected.

The house is up for auction.

When asked about the village of Dolton possibly buying the home through eminent domain, Mayor Jason House told the Daily Southtown he wouldn't rule that out.

House says he plans to speak with the owner about the property soon.

House says he's excited about the home's potential as an attraction and historical landmark, while ensuring it's honored properly.
