(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Several southern suburbs are at risk for localized flooding, as strong thunderstorms continue to pound the area.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Southeastern Cook, Central Will County and Northeastern Kankakee Counties, effective until 9:45 a.m.

Two to four inches of rain has already fallen in the area, according to the NWS, and with heavy thunderstorms still moving through, an additional two inches of rain is possible.

Over two inches of rain has been measured in Monee. Nearly two inches of rain has fallen in Homer Glen and Harvey.

The NWS says there is a chance creeks, streams, drainage ditches, streets, underpasses and low-lying areas could quickly become flooded.

Locations that could see flash flooding include the South Side of Chicago, Joliet, Bolingbrook, Orland Park, Tinley Park, Oak Lawn, Romeoville, Calumet City, Woodridge, Chicago Heights, Roseland, Lansing, Oak Forest, Harvey, Lockport, New Lenox, Homer Glen, Blue Island, Dolton, Park Forest, Kankakee, Bourbonnais, Bradley, Manteno and Momence.

This is a developing story. Stay tuned to WBBM Newsradio for an update.
