(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Former Chicago alderman Bob Fioretti is again running to unseat Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, but this time he’s doing it from the Republican side of the aisle.
He acknowledges there are no tax or fee increases in Toni Preckwinkle’s budget, but says he still has problems with it.
Preckwinkle is trying to fill 4,000 vacant positions right now, most in health care, he said. Maybe those jobs should be frozen, Fioretti suggests.
Fioretti doesn’t deny the South Side needs more access to quality health care, but he suggests not-for-profit groups could help fill the need.
And he suggests there are so many vacant jobs because people are fleeing Chicago and Cook County.
Fioretti is the guest on this weekend’s “At Issue” program. It airs at 9:30 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
