(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Former Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade, a former Chicagoan, says he loves Miami but he can’t live there anymore.

Wade said he moved his family out of Florida because, he felt they "would not be accepted or feel comfortable there" because of anti-LGBTQ+ sentiment and laws.

He made the remarks during an interview for "Headliners with Rachel Nichols." The clip was shared with People magazine.

Wade’s teenage daughter came out as transgender. He and his wife, Gabrielle Union, have been supportive of the transgender community.

“I have to make decisions for my family, not just personal, individual decisions," he said in the interview.

Wade and his family now live in Los Angeles County.
