(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Garrett Popcorn is teaming up with an anti-violence organization to make sure mail orders get out, and in the process some at-risk young people get jobs and training this holiday season.
Chicago CRED, a group started by former Education Secretary Arne Duncan, is known for helping formerly incarcerated people find work.
And the group has set up a 30,000-square-foot warehouse as a food packaging business and called it CREDMADE.
Garett Popcorn has contracted with the business to boost its holiday mail order capacity for popcorn and Frango mints.
Rahul Pasarnikar, who runs CREDMADE, said it’s helping young people get on a path to a career.
Employees learn about manufacturing and warehousing, he said.
