(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Mayor Brandon Johnson doesn't seem to acknowledge any real differences with Gov. JB Pritzker, despite a recent behind-the-scenes struggle over votes.
Ask Mayor Johnson about any differences with the governor over hemp or anything else, and he says he enjoys his relationship with the governor.
He details the several things on which they have cooperated, like the response to the flow of migrants into the city, last summer's Democratic National Convention, or various budget measures.
Gov. JB Pritzker says the mayor rarely calls him.
The mayor told WBBM his team talks to Pritzker's team all the time.
"As the city of Chicago goes, so goes the state of Illinois. As the state of Illinois goes, so does the region and as the region goes, so does our country. And so we're gonna continue to rely upon one another as strong Democrats that will be faced with real threats from the federal government.
"And I'm looking forward to our work together to ensure that working people in the city of Chicago and throughout the state of Illinois – that our values are front and center."
