CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - It has taken some time but some of the tents that migrants have been calling home outside police stations for months have been removed.

The 18th District at Division and Larabee, was among those where tent cities popped up.

As of Monday night, the tents had been removed.

The migrants moved to shelters. That’s the goal at all of the police stations.

Migrants have been moved out of other stations, as well. Some were living in the lobbies, others outside.

The city has imposed a 60-day deadline for migrants to stay in the shelters. After that, it’s expected they’ll be moved into more permanent housing in the city or elsewhere. That has raised questions about what happens in January, if the migrants have nowhere else to go.
