(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The village of Oak Park is the latest unit of government in Illinois to issue a mask mandate for indoor public places, regardless of vaccination status.
The village saw a 750% increase in COVID-19 cases in July, compared to June. That’s a major reason for the universal masking requirement announced by Public Health Director Theresa D. Chapple-McGruder.
It requires anyone over the age of 2 to wear a face covering. Masks are also encouraged in outdoor public settings when social distancing is not possible, officials said.
The order is effective immediately.
