(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Warm weather brings a variety of outdoor activities across the Chicago area. WBBM Newsradio’s Rachel Pierson has a roundup of this weekend’s highlights.

—Kick off the summer festival season in the Historic District of Lincoln Park. Chicago Mayfest celebrates its 25th season by showcasing some of Chicago’s most acclaimed musicians. You’ll also find tasty summertime food and all the libations needed to lighten up your weekend.

—You, too, can be Greek for a day. Chicago’s Greektown neighborhood will celebrate the 200th anniversary of independence with the annual Greek Heritage Parade. The in-person event returns to Halsted Street at 2:30 on Sunday.

—Instead of Greek, celebrate all things geek. West suburban Carol Stream hosts Geek Fest Saturday afternoon, with gaming events, tons of comics and collectibles and a top-tier “cosplay” contest.

—Relieve the coming-of-age story with Atticus, Scout and Boo Radley as the iconic 1960 novel To Kill a Mockingbird comes to life. Aaron Sorkin’s adaptation continues its limited-run at the Nederlander Theatre.

—Grab your bike and head to McHenry County for the 2nd annual Pedalpalooza. Sunday’s event takes riders along the scenic Conservation District bike trail system while raising funds for the Family Health Partnership Clinic. Participating bikers will also get special discounts at local restaurants, shops and breweries.

—And for something a little sweeter, check out the Chocolate Festival in downtown Long Grove. After a three-year hiatus, the two-day confectionary celebration returns with live music, family activities and of course, all things chocolate.
