CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A late morning shooting and forced a portion of the outbound Dan Ryan to be shut down.
According to Illinois State Police, the incident involving two vehicles occurred shortly after 11:30 a.m. in the outbound lanes near 83d Street.
A person in one vehicle opened fire on another vehicle, hitting one person. The victim was transported to an area hospital, police said. Their condition is not yet known.
The ISP conducted their investigation, and, as a result, closed all outbound lanes, beginning at 75th street and ending at 83rd.
The closure lasted more than two hours, with the lanes being reopened shortly before 3 p.m.
He says it's best to avoid the Dan Ryan beyond the Stevenson Expressway.
