(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A student and one of their parents were arrested over a threat involving a weapon that was made at Minooka Intermediate School in Chicago’s far southwest suburbs.

Their arrests came after an investigation into a report of a threat directed toward students at the school. Officers searched the family’s home due to what officials described as the “parent’s unwillingness to fully cooperate and the nature of the threat.”

Minooka police said the parent was arrested for violation of the Firearms Child Protection Act. The student, meanwhile, was arrested and booked for felony disorderly conduct and has since been released.

All unsecured guns were removed from the home.

Officials said they did not believe the threat made against the school was viable.
