WAUKEGAN (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The father of the Highland Park parade shooting suspect was released from jail around 8 a.m. today after serving about half of his sentence.
Four weeks ago, Robert Crimo Jr. turned himself in to start serving a 60-day sentence negotiated with Lake County prosecutors that allowed time off for good behavior.
That plea deal came right before his trial was to start on reckless conduct for sponsoring his son’s FOID card application. Crimo Jr. was wearing a shirt that said, “I’m a political pawn,” for his court appearance. It was in violation of Judge George Strickland’s decorum order.

On Monday, a different judge set a February trial date for Robert Crimo III. He’s charged with murder and attempted murder for the Fourth of July parade shooting that killed seven people and left dozens injured.
