CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Police are alerting Southwest Side residents of a recent string of sewer cover thefts.

Three sewer covers have been removed then stolen the past several months, police said.

The latest incident occurred Halloween afternoon at around 2 p.m. near 55th and Lawndale.

Detectives noted it happened twice previously. A cover was taken off the street  on Oct. 17, near 63rd Place and Laramie at around 1 p.m. Another theft was reported Aug. 25 at 12:30 a.m. in the same West Elsdon block where Tuesday’s happened. It’s unclear if it was the same cover.

Those with any tips are asked to call Area One Detectives at 312-747-8380.
