(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- If you're looking for a place to watch Monday's total solar eclipse, a tourism official says there are still some good options available.

The “path of totality,” which is where the moon will completely cover the sun at the peak of the eclipse, passes through Southern Illinois.

Daniel Thomas, the deputy director of the Illinois Office of Tourism, tells the WBBM Noon Business Hour there's still room at some eclipse-related viewing events in that region.

One option is an eclipse-viewing festival at the Shawnee National Forest, which also features art and music, he said.

A comprehensive guide to eclipse-related events across Illinois is on the state's tourism web site at enjoyillinois.com.
