CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Two Chicago firefighters were hurt in a house fire in the Back of the Yards Sunday night.
The firefighters were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, the department said after responding to a fire near 45th and Justine at around 7:30pm. A neighbor told CBS 2 one family has owned the home for generations.
"Things like that, they upset you because you live in the community for such a long time, and it's sad," the woman said.
She said the smoke was so thick it was hard to see down the street. Flames were shooting out of the roof of the home next door to where the fire began. The owners said no one was at home at the time, with the grandmother running down the street upon seeing it.
