CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — For Chicago voters who haven't cast their ballots yet, the city’s Board of Elections Spokesman Max Bever says there are dozens of options for people to make their voice heard on Election Day.
On Election Day, voters can cast their ballots from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. at any of the city's 51 voting centers or at their assigned precinct polling place. Find which of the 51 voting centers are nearest to you with the map embedded below, and find your assigned precinct polling place with this link.
Bever said some people might actually find shorter lines than those who took advantage of early voting.
“Since 2020, people have been early voting and voting by mail more, which means that less people have been showing up on Election Day,” he said.
Given the importance and attention surrounding this election, though, plus the long early voting lines some people experienced, Bever added that it's possible Election Day turnout could be heavier.
“This is the presidential election, where generally 70% of the city’s registered voters show up,” he said. “That’s over 1.1 million registered voters.”
For those who aren't registered to vote or need to make corrections to their registration, Bever said it's not too late.
“If you still need to get registered or you recently moved and you need to update your address … bring two forms of ID: one with your current address on them, and they’ll help update your registration on site,” Bever said.
If anyone is thinking about taking a selfie with their completed ballot, Bever had a word of caution:
“You’re not allowed to take that ballot selfie or a photo of your ballot. It is a felony.”
Instead, he said it’s best to use your “I voted” sticker for your selfie.
