CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Downtown Chicago businesses say they’re facing a mixed bag of excitement and apprehension, as they re-open their workplaces to employees.
David Casper, U.S. CEO for BMO Financial, on Tuesday said his managers are listening carefully as they move toward a full re-opening in June.
“We think the vast majority of our employees really do want to come back. It’s just there’s lots of issues that people need to work through,” Casper said at a forum led by World Business Chicago and the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA).
Desiree Rogers, head of Black Opal Cosmetics, said her firm will reopen in September. She said some employees are hesitant because of headlines.
She says several who live in the suburbs have asked, “How’s the city these days?”
Former City Planning Commissioner David Reithman — now with real estate Developer Clayco — says people need to know that downtown and mass transit are safe.
CTA President Dorval Carter said the transit agency is ready for them. They'll see cleaner trains and buses and lots of advisories about masks and such.
