LAKE FOREST, Ill. (670 The Score) — Ten days before kicking off the 2023 regular season, the Bears named their four team captains.
Quarterback Justin Fields, receiver DJ Moore, linebacker Tremaine Edmunds and safety Eddie Jackson were selected by the Bears as their four captains for this season, head coach Matt Eberflus announced Thursday.
"I always tell the guys, the first rule of leadership is (to) lead yourself and everybody is a leader," Eberflus said. "We need leadership in every room, from the first guy to the last guy. We need discipline and habits have to be right. We need a great job of leading and following.
"That's important that we do that as a group."
Fields and Jackson were each voted captains for the Bears last season, when Eberflus brought the concept of regular captains back to the team. Moore and Edmunds are each in their first year with Chicago.
The Bears will also have an honorary captain each week, Eberflus said. A player hasn't yet been named to that role for the season opener.
The Bears open the season Sept. 10, when they host the Packers at Soldier Field.
