(670 The Score) The Cubs have signed right-hander Kohl Stewart to a one-year deal, they announced Thursday afternoon.
Stewart, 26, didn’t pitch in the 2020 regular season, announcing on Aug. 1 that he was opting out due to enhanced COVID-19 concerns as he suffers from type 1 diabetes.
Stewart posted a 6.39 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in nine appearances, including two starts, for the Twins in 2019. He had a 3.68 ERA for the Twins in 2018, when he appeared in eight games. Minnesota selected Stewart at No. 4 overall in the first round of the 2013 amateur draft.
The Cubs’ 40-man roster now sits at 37 players.
