Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Buffalo's Albright Knox Art Gallery is planning a new mural in the city of Buffalo that will be a tribute to the coronavirus pandemic through which we are living.

The Albright Knox has partnered with 16 local artists who are working together, while remaining socially distant.

Ott and his team put together kits that included paint, paint brushes and the material and they delivered them to 16 different artists.

The artists are documenting the project by sharing it on social media. "Each of them is creating work that is uniquely theirs, but it will still be part of a whole."  Ott said it represents how we are standing apart from one another right now, but we still stand together as a community. The work is being shared with the hashtags #WorksFromHome and #AKPublicArt.

"I think there will be a patchwork vision to the final product," said Ott. "Like many, I'll probably set up a Zoom meeting with all 16 artists to talk about how it will come together.

The timeline is flexible as the artists are doing this on the side.  "When we are able, we will determine a location and install it." Ott hopes it's a moving moment for the community.
