(WBEN) - A coalition of companies in the marijuana industry is launching an ad campaign this week aimed at encouraging New York State lawmakers to legalize cannabis as part of the state budget.
"It's time New York starts competing in this growing industry," says a voiceover in the TV ad, that cites a report from New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer that the state could make as much $436 Million in new tax revenue if they legalized the drug.
The spot is sponsored by the New York Medical Cannabis Industry Association. It touts the benefits of legalizing while warning that “Albany needs to take action before we lose out.”
