BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - Buffalo's waterfront will be buzzing once again on Friday night.

At Canalside, the Ontario-based group Arkells will be performing at the stage starting at 8 p.m. Less than a mile away will also be the kickoff of the third annual "Cobblestone Live", where more than 30 bands and non-music events will take over the Cobblestone District for two days.

The two separate events present some challenges for the separate organizers, but both have prepared accordingly and in collaboration with one another. Erin Marra, the Assistant General Manager at Canalside, and Josh Holtzman, the Festival Director for Cobblestone Live, said they've talked to one another to make sure the events run smoothly.

Saturday's shows at Cobblestone Live will not be affected by any Canalside programming.

"It's actually going to work out perfectly for you to go to Canalside, see the headliner, then come right over to Cobblestone Live and see our headliner," Holtzman said. "This festival was built for the city and for the neighborhood. Canalside is a huge part of everything that goes on down here so we've had open communication with everybody on all aspects."

Parking restrictions went into effect on Thursday morning in and around the Cobblestone District and will last until Sunday at 6 p.m.

Holtzman said the main parking lots in the Cobblestone District will be open, similar to parking for a Sabres game. He said you should avoid street parking.

"Currently, we are going to have Columbia, South Park, Mississippi, and Illinois Streets all closed," Holtzman said. "Those are going to be big street closures in place...What you want to do is stay off all the cobblestone streets that are in the district."
