(WBEN) Ed Vidler, well-known from his East Aurora Store and the commercials he was in for many years has died at the age of 90.
The announcement of his death was made Saturday night on the stores Facebook page.
"Kind, humble, polite, optimistic and always ready with a really bad pun or corny joke, dad wouldn't want us to mourn but to celebrate what he considered his wonderful life. He often said he didn't need a funeral, because his celebration of life was in Nov. of 2007 when Ed Vidler Day was held at the The Aurora Theatre and Popcorn Shop... "How lucky am I to have all my family and friends around me to celebrate while I'm alive and not after I'm gone." And for that we thank Robin George who thought of and organized the day, and to David DiPietro and Rick Ohler and many others who who were a part of the festivities.
Ed was an eternal optimist and loved any excuse for a party. He often said one of his favorite sounds was the clinking of glasses -- so raise a glass tonight or tomorrow in honor of Ed Vidler -- the one, the only and the original Vidler on the Roof."
