Man Charged with Murder after Standoff with Buffalo Police

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) UPDATE: Buffalo Police announced Sunday that autopsy results on the deceased woman discovered following Friday's standoff, show she died of wounds sustained by a sharp object.

Buffalo police have arrested an individual and charged him with murder in the 2nd degree following a standoff this morning


Police say a man barricaded himself inside an apartment in the 1400 block of Jefferson Avenue. Buffalo SWAT and the Crisis Management Team were called to the scene. Police say just before 10:30am the standoff ended without incident as the individual surrendered to authorities.

24 year old Charles Jones of Buffalo was arrested and charged with murder in the 2nd  degree in connection with the death of his former  girlfriend, 25 year old Jacquetta Lee. Police discovered her deceased body in her apartment on July 18th just after 6:30pm in the 3200 block of Main Street.

Following this morning's standoff, police say they discovered the body of a deceased female in the Jefferson Avenue apartment.

An autopsy will be conducted by Erie County medical examiners to determine the cause of death.
