Buffalo, NY (WBEN) The Michigan Avenue Lift Bridge over the Buffalo River is now closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic. City officials say a structural concern in the cable system that was observed during a recent inspection is prompting the closure.
The bridge will remain closed for several months until the cables can be replaced. Michigan between Ohio Street and Gansen Street will be closed during that period.
A detour route has been posted using South Park Avenue to Louisiana Street to Ohio Street to Ganson Street.
A reminder to all commercial drivers that Ohio Street from Michigan Avenue to Louisiana Street is NOT a truck route, instead use Louisiana Street from South Park Avenue.
