BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - Social media is ripe with jokes about Buffalo and Western New York in response to the decision by Pittsburgh Steelers’ wideout Antonio Brown to not accept a trade to the Buffalo Bills. Why is Buffalo in the crosshairs?

“It’s an easy dig,” Visit Buffalo Niagara President and CEO Patrick Kaler told WBEN on Friday. “When Johnny Carson used to take his nightly jabs at Buffalo because of our snow. I think the fact that, yes we did lose for Super Bowls in a row, that played into it. We know as a Buffalo nation what a great city we do have.”

Kaler called Buffalo a good place to work, live, and play. He said it’s a missed opportunity by Brown.

Buffalo was named by Travel and Leisure Magazine as America’s favorite city.

“It’s not just Visit Buffalo Niagara and Patrick Kaler saying what a great city it is, it’s everyone else that we can point to,” Kaler added.

Whenever the Bills get a rookie player, Visit Buffalo Niagara assists with tours and information of the city. Members of Pegula Sports and Entertainment are also on their board of directors.

Still, it’s cold in Buffalo. “Probably 60 percent of our country is cold as well,” Kaler said while noting places in California are covered in snow and both Las Vegas and even Arizona received snow. “The possibility of a potential threat of snow would shut down Washington, D.C. Here, we are up and moving.”

Kaler said Buffalo was ranked 70th on a list of most livable cities in the country.
