BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - The Western New York region has again reached five of the seven metrics set by the state to reopen.

The region, which includes Erie, Niagara, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Allegany Counties, has lowered its new hospitalizations to 1.81. This number represents the number of people per 100,000 residents that were hospitalized. All regions must be under 2.00.

While this metric has been met, Western New York has still not met 14-day decline in net hospitalizations and it has also not met the 14-day decline in hospital deaths.

Hospitalizations statewide have declined, though Western New York and several other Upstate regions, continue to see a plateau in the numbers. Western New York is reporting 204 total hospitalizations and have not had a notable increase or decrease in the last week.
