Amherst, NY (WBEN) - We all know Super Bowl Sunday is one of the biggest days of the year for pizzerias, so it's no surprise that many pizzeras throughout Western New York are already preparing for Sunday.
While some other days see high demand, no other day on the calendar is synonymous with pizza the way Super Bowl Sunday is.
"This week we've been preparing all week, said Walt Smetana with Franco's Pizzeria." Our dough takes 24 hours before it's ready, so we will se a huge increase in the amount of pizza we sell over any other day. The only day that comes close would be Halloween, New Year's Eve, and maybe even Valentine's Day as far as how much dough we prepare."
For that reason, Smetana said all Franco's locations have been busy all week getting the dough made for the big day.
While pizza gets all the attention, it turns out that wings can really be a handful, too.
"Wings is really King on Super Bowl Sunday," Smetana said. "We'll see almost 100% increase in wing sales versus any other big day of the year. So if we sell 20,000 wings on Halloween, we'll sell 40,000 on the Super Bowl."
So which is it for you, pizza or wings?
