Miami, FL (WBEN) As the Bills head down to Miami next Sunday to play the Dolphins, there may not be as many from the Bills Mafia traveling, but interest remains high for the divisional matchup.
"We still had a lot of people reach out. Now we know Dolphins season ticket holders were able to secure their tickets this week. They've put them up on secondary ticket sites for others to scoop up," says Jon Holler of the Miami Bills Backers. "I think people starting hearing about it and I got messages throughout the day. I would say everyone down here has been purchasing tickets." Holler says tickets are in the range of several hundred dollars.
Holler says he keeps it to close family and friends, but this year most friends and family canceled because of the quarantine required upon returning to New York. "There's a lot of fans here in Miami, but I think this is a big vacation weekend for those from Buffalo, and we're going to miss them," says Holler.
Heading to the stadium, Holler says masks will be required, and social distancing will be enforced. Concessions will be contactless, with payments required through an app.
There will be a tailgate party Saturday at Bo's Beach, owned by a former Miami Dolphins player, and will be first come, first served.
For those traveling down to Miami, Elizabeth Carey of AAA reminds you to remember your mask before heading to the airport. "You have to wear a facial covering at the airport. Most airlines say if you don't have a mask, you cannot fly on the airline," warns Carey. "Airports are operating at 1/7th capacity, compared to last year. Know there will be limited food and beverage. There will always be options but not every place in the food court will be open."
Carey says do some advance work. "When you choose that hotel, look over the hotel cleanliness policy to see what they're doing to keep their travelers safe to find out if you need to bring something extra," says Carey. She notes the TSA will allow larger hand sanitizer bottles, up to 12 ounces into carry-on luggage.
Rental cars will become another big issue. "If you're planning on renting a car down in Florida, if they see you're a New York resident they may deny renting you a car," adds Carey.
