Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - The Winter Olympics are giving a visibility boost to the Buffalo Curling Club.

"The added exposure is great," said Curling Club Founder Danielle Buchbinder. "Everybody sits and watches and thinks 'Oh my God that looks so easy, that looks so fun.' Then they try it and think maybe not so easy but still fun."

Buchbinder told WBEN it's a rush of activity every four years for the Club, which was re-founded in 2014.

In 2017, the Club opened an indoor curling space inside the old Buffalo China Factory near Bailey and Seneca where they run events October through April.

At the Club in Buffalo, players can be as casual or as serious with curling as they wish.

"Easy to learn, yes. Easy to Master, no," Buchbinder said. "That's what's great about it. Anybody can come out and try it. Any skill level, any age. We even do adaptations so we welcome wheelchair curlers and stick curlers if you can't bend down and slide."

"It's easy to get the grasp of the game and try it, but to master it you definitely need a lot more practice."

The Buffalo Curling Club is hosting several open houses and learn-to-curl events during the Olympics to help anyone interested get into the sport. You can see the full list of those events HERE.
