Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Local gas prices have risen 12 cents over the course of the last week, as AAA reports that a gallon of unleaded fuel in the Buffalo-Niagara Falls region costs $4.35. That's one of the lowest averages in the state, though, as the average price for a gallon of gas in New York is $4.52.
The national average for a gallon of gas is slightly lower than the local average, coming in at $4.33 per-gallon.
T.J. Maxx is moving from it's current site at the corner of Sheridan Drive in Amherst just a mile up Niagara Falls Boulevard to the former Burlington Plaza near Trader Joe's. The HomeGoods store next to T.J. Maxx will also move to the new location, along with Homesense and Sierra - bringing the first locations of both stores to Western New York.
Oishei Children's Hospital received a major grant from KeyBank and the First Niagara Foundation, as they donated $1.5 million to the hospital to help further develop and sustain a program to address maternal health and racial equity, while ensuring all Western New York women receive quality maternity care. Oishei will also create a program that will provide a stipend to assist nurses with two-year degrees to work toward four-year degrees.
With a recent boom in the cream-based liquor industry, O-AT-KA Milk Products in Batavia is adding 3,246 square feet to its building. The $3.5 million expansion will house two new 18,000-gallon mixing and blending tanks where the cream-based liquors are made.
