BUFFALO (WBEN) - Another Canalside development project has been officially wrapped up by the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation.

This project is part of a $5.53 million investment from New York State to create a replica of Governor Dewitt Clinton’s 1825 Packet Boat and Longshed, which will serve as a year-round programming and events center at Canalside.
"We continue to add to reasons for people to come down to the Erie Canal," said Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul. "You now have the boardwalk, we have the children's museum, we're going to have a carousel here next Memorial Day, and now we have this building, which is a replica of of what buildings looked like back in that era."
The 5,000 square-foot building is situated around the Central Wharf, opposite of the Naval Park brick building.
"This is the next iteration of waterfront development in Buffalo," said Congressman Brian Higgins. "We're going to be doing more stuff out at the Outer Harbor next year and more stuff along the Buffalo River in the next couple of years, and as I said, the progress that we have made together, as a community, is going to change the image of this city for the next 100 years, and for the better."
