Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Buffalo Police sources confirm a 3-year-old boy who was shot on Donovan Drive Monday has succumbed to the injuries he suffered.

The boy and three others were struck by gunfire while watching fireworks in a courtyard.

Mayor Byron Brown released the following statement:
"My thoughts and prayers are with the family of three-year-old Shaquelle Walker, Jr. who has died after a senseless, tragic shooting on Monday night on Donovan Drive. This is a heartbreaking loss for our entire community. Please keep the family in your prayers, and please, please put the guns down."

Earlier this week, Dequan I Richardson and Jonay B. Robinson were both charged with six crimes, including criminal possession of a weapon and various drug charges in connection with the shootings.

Erie County District Attorney John Flynn said leftover fireworks from the Fourth of July were being used around the time the shooting happened. Four people were shot in that incident, including three men in their 20s and the 3-year-old boy who was riding his bicycle when he was shot in the head.

The boy was transported to Oishei Childrens Hospital following the incident where his condition was critical until his passing Friday.
