Applebee's employee stabbed by co-worker in Niagara Falls

The victim was transported by Mercy Flight to a nearby hospital, and the suspect was transported by ambulance

Niagara Falls, N.Y. (WBEN) - An altercation at an Applebee's in Niagara Falls on Tuesday afternoon resulted in two employees leaving with knife wounds.

According to Town of Niagara Police Chief Craig Guillani, they're unsure what led to the confrontation at the restaurant on Military Road.

"One was stabbed by another employee, not very sure in the details of why, but that employee was the victim was taken to ECMC via Mercy Flight," Guillani stated with WBEN. "The suspect was taken to ECMC via Tri-Community Ambulance out of Wheatfield for laceration to his hand."

When officers arrived on the scene Tuesday after at around 3:07 p.m. ET, they placed themselves between the suspect and the victim, while ovserving the suspect to still be in possession of the knife. Officers advised the suspect numerous times to drop the knife, but he refused.

Officials with the Town of Niagara Police Department and Niagara County Sheriff's Office ended up deploying a taser on the suspect, and he was then taken into custody without further incident.

Sam Keesler, 34 of Niagara Falls, was charged with one count of Assault in the Second Degree (Class "D" Felony). Keesler was remanded to the Niagara County Correctional Facility on $50,000 cash bail.

Both employees are expected to be OK, as the victim in the incident suffered several stab wounds to his upper torso.

The Niagara County Sheriff's Office Criminal Division will now be handling further matters with the an ongoing investigation.
