BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - Pools and beaches in New York State will be allowed to reopen come Memorial Day, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Wednesday in Buffalo.

Six feet of social distancing will be required.

"Our goal is by the Fourth of July to go to 100% capacity with all beaches and all pools," Cuomo said. "If the numbers keep going the way they are going, we are going to be able to do that. We would be able to have a normal summer finally in beaches and pools and that's what we're striving for."

The positive test rate statewide for Tuesday was 1.1%. Western New York has a positive test rate of 2.3%.
