Amherst, N.Y. (WBEN) - Talk about a Father's Day to remember.

Brianna and Keith Allen thought they had plenty of time when mom started to feel mild contractions around 5 a.m. ET on Father’s Day. But as Brianna tells the story, "God had other plans."

The couple’s second child made their trip to the hospital very eventful. As they were pulling into Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital around 7:40 a.m. ET and weighing 9lbs., 4oz., Kai Allen made his official arrival.

After having a false alarm in May, Brianna wanted to be sure this was the real thing before heading to the hospital. With her mother Crystal in town from Phoenix to assist when the new baby arrived, they started to use a contraction timer app.

After about an hour, things were starting to get a little more intense and the app told them to get ready. They ignored the app at first until the contractions became more uncomfortable, then Brianna would take a long shower knowing it would be soon, but still sure they had plenty of time as she had labored with her first born for 22 hours.

After showering and collecting her things, the family headed out to drop off her three-year-old son and get to the hospital. Crystal would FaceTime Brianna’s sister in the car trying to keep her calm while Keith was driving.

On the way to the hospital, the contractions began getting more severe. "By the time we got to Genesee Street, we had to call 911," said Brianna, "to notify the hospital that we were coming."

When they got to Transit Road, Brianna thought she could feel the baby’s head. "That's when my water broke. My mom ended up going in between us, in the front seat. She was starting to see the baby's head. My husband was like, wait, no, no, put him back!"

Brianna said her husband was driving and multi-tasking at the same time. "His facial expressions said everything. You could tell he was worried, but at the same time he was calm."

By the time they turned to into the hospital driveway, Brianna said she did one more push and the baby was out. "My mom caught him like a football."

A team of doctors and nurses were already outside, ready to greet them.
"They opened my car door and said good job mama! I started crying, my husband started crying, and the baby was crying!"

The labor and delivery team assisted Keith in the driver’s seat, as he cut the umbilical cord of his healthy newborn son on Father’s Day.

"All of the staff was amazing, I have to say. There were about twenty of them," said Brianna.

Brianna and Kai are doing well and expected to go home on Tuesday.
