Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - The Buffalo Bisons will be celebrating one of the unique smells of Buffalo on Friday night at Sahlen Field.

"My City Smells Like Cheerios" Night will pay tribute to one of Downtown Buffalo's defining features.

"You have a lot of nights at the ballpark where after a game you go out to your car to drive home and you smell the sweet smell of Cheerios or Lucky Charms in the air," said Bisons assistant general manager Brad Bisbing. "It's something that's so fun and uniquely Buffalo that we get to celebrate."

For the event, the team will look a lot different on the field. Players will be wearing special Cheerios-themed hats and jerseys.

"It's very different from any sort of Bisons jersey we have," Bisbing said. "It's bright yellow. Obviously a natural tie-in with the yellow box. We wanted to make it seem like our own Bisons cereal."

The first 2,000 fans through the gate will receive a commemorative Bisons Cereal Bowl. Buzz, the Honey Nut Cheerios Bee, will be alongside Buster, and much more is planned to celebrate the evening.

First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
