Buffalo police respond to string of weekend burglaries

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - The Buffalo Police Department is asking city residents to stay alert and keep their doors locked after responding to multiple burglaries over the weekend.

Officers responded to robberies downtown, on the city's West Side and in North Buffalo on Saturday night.

Detectives believe the incidents are connected.

Police Commissioner Alphonso Wright said his top priority is protecting neighborhoods.

"We have committed detectives, increased patrols, and are
placing extra officers in the area to ensure community safety," he said in a statement.

The Buffalo Police Departmenr is asking residents to "remain alert, lock doors and windows, use exterior lights when possible, and call 911 immediately if you see or hear anything suspicious."

The exact number of home burglaries has not been released.
