Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Buffalo Pro Soccer, the organization that wants to bring professional soccer to Buffalo, provides early results from their fan survey and an update on the stadium's possible location.
Out of the 1,100+ fans that filled out the survey so far:
- Nearly half of the respondents are from Erie County, outside of Buffalo
- More than half identify as avid soccer fans, and 90% of them already know about Buffalo Pro Soccer
- Almost everyone expressed interest in purchasing individual tickets to home matches
- 63% are interested in buying season tickets
The top factors that would influence people to support the club include:
- A club culture that aligns with Buffalo's identity
- A lively atmosphere in the stadium
- On-field success of the team
Key stadium amenities respondents value most:
- Ample, high-quality restrooms
- Convenient, nearby parking
- Local food and beverage options

President of the organization, Peter Marlette Jr., says they've narrowed the search down to two "finalist" sites.
"One has been announced, and that is the Buffalo News and HSBC Atrium area in the cobblestone district. That is public. The other one is not yet. I promise, there are good reasons for that, and it will be soon enough," said Marlette Jr. with WBEN.
Once the survey closes on Oct. 7, Marlette Jr. says they will have a better idea of which location to choose.
"There's a lot of there's a lot of questions that we need answered. Amenities that people want in the stadium, seating variety, and that's really important," Marlette Jr said. "It's not as fun as some of the other questions, like, 'What's going to make you a fan of a professional soccer team in Buffalo?' I love the answers we've been getting for that. The No. 1 is a team on the field that represents the city and represents the community."
