Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - With the return on in person learning at many schools in Buffalo Monday, a number of speed zone cameras have been activated again.
Parking Commissioner Kevin Helfer says the School Zone Safety Program is in effect at the following locations:
• Canisius High School
• Nichols School
• Notre Dame Academy
• St. Joseph University School
• Buffalo Promise Neighborhood Children's Academy
Warning beacons will be on alerting motorists that school is in session. The school zone speed limit of 15 MPH is in effect for the hours listed below the zone's posted speed limit. Traffic officials ask motorists to please slow down and be aware of students returning to and from school.
Recently the Buffalo Common Council voted to request that Mayor Byron Brown suspend the speed camera program, something the mayor has indicated he will not do.
