Buffalo teen sentenced in stabbing at Buffalo Culinary Arts School

The adolescent offender received a split sentence of six months in jail followed by five years of probation

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - A female Buffalo teen was sentenced on Wednesday for her role in stabbing a fellow student at the Buffalo Culinary Arts School back in September.

The Erie County District Attorney's Office says the 16-year-old was sentenced before Erie County Court Judge Kenneth Case, a designated Youth Part judge, receiving a split sentence of six months in jail followed by five years of probation. She was also was adjudicated as a youthful offender.


It was on Sept. 13, 2022 at approximately 12:14 p.m. EST with the adolescent offender, with the intent to cause physical injury, stabbed the victim multiple times with a knife during a fight. The crime occurred in the women's restroom inside of the school on West Huron Street in the City of Buffalo.

The victim, a 17-year-old female, was taken by ambulance to Oishei Children's Hospital, where she spent two days in the hospital to be treated for multiple stab wounds to her backside. She continues to recover from her injuries.

The adolescent offender pleaded guilty to one count of Assault in the Second Degree (Class "D" felony), the only charge in the indictment against her, on Dec. 2, 2022.

Judge Case also issued a final order of protection on behalf of the victim on Wednesday, which remains in effect for the next eight years.
