Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - It’s Dyngus Day in Buffalo, and despite the gloomy weather, crowds are hitting the streets to celebrate the popular Polish post-Lenten holiday.
"We just did the Dyngus Day Easter Mass and then we're going to go around. We live in Washington State now, and we came here just for today. We have our little map, and we're gonna enjoy as much as we can, starting with some kielbasa, as soon as possible," stated one resident.
For some, this will be their first time ever experiencing Dyngus Day in Buffalo.
"I'm very excited. I read about it and have been told about it. The activities, the parades, the church masses, the food. What do I expect? A good time and lots of memories," stated Michelle, who was out shopping with her sisters.
One person explained that they want to go to the Dyngus Day Parade in Easte Buffalo, however, the rain might keep them from experiencing it.
"I've never seen the parade, but I've heard about it, but that I'd like to experience it, but we'll see, depending on the weather."
However, rain or shine, some Buffalonians are determined to keep the tradition going.
"For us, thunder, lightning, as long as they have it, I'll be there."
