Chemical spill at Archem building in Wheatfield sends three employees to hospital

Around 100 gallons of chemicals spilled in the facility, drawing a Haz-Mat response

Wheatfield, N.Y. (WBEN) - Three employees at Archem, Inc. in the Town of Wheatfield were taken to the hospital Monday morning following a chemical spill.

The spill happened at around 3:20 a.m. ET.

The Niagara County Sheriff's Office says there is no threat to residents or local businesses at this time.

According to the Sheriff's Office, around 100 gallons of chemicals spilled inside the building. Niagara County Haz-Mat, Bergholz Volunteer Fire Company, Niagara Air Reserve Station, Sanborn Volunteer Fire Company and the Niagara County Fire Coordinator's Office all responded to contain the spill.

Two employees were taken to St. Mary's Hospital, and another was taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center to be evaluated and for precautionary decontamination.
