Getzville man faces 15 years in prison for stealing from woman's life savings

Getzville, N.Y. (WBEN) - A 64-year-old Getzville man has plead guilty to second degree larceny after stealing more than $250,000 from an Amherst woman's life savings.

According to the Erie County District Attorney Office, Victor Marinaccio befriended the victim and misrepresented himself in order to steal the woman's money. Between July 2018 and August 2022, Marinaccio used funds from the victim's credit cards towards travel and personal expenses.


United States Secret Service tracked down Marinaccio, who was living in a hotel in Las Vegas. He was sent back to Western New York to be prosecuted.

Marinaccio faces 15 years in prison, and has been ordered to pay back $250,000 to the victim. Marinaccio was also ordered to surrender his passport.
