Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - This Sunday morning, some 1,500 bicyclists will ride down the Skyway in the 10th Skyride event. Organizers say it's not too late to take part.
Kevin Heffernan says he's excited about the milestone.
"What we've been saying to people, since they've been seeing so much about it is if you can ride a bike, you can handle the Skyway," said Heffernan, describing the hill as gradual and worth the climb to get to the top.
He adds you can take as many trips as you can during the three-hour window and ride at your own pace.
Over the years, Heffernan says the event has grown, with more riding in from out of town.
"We met people coming in from Pennsylvania from Maryland, who are staying in Buffalo this week," Heffernan said with WBEN.
Heffernan adds one couple has been trying to do this for a while, but couldn't get the timing lined up until now.
It's not too late to register. You have until 10 a.m. ET on Friday to sign up online. Heffernan says the registration fee goes up on Sunday. Same day registration is at the Outer Harbor concert venue Terminal B.
Heffernan hopes for 1,500 riders come Sunday morning.
