Hamburg, N.Y. (WBEN) - The Town of Hamburg Police have arrested 34-year-old Cory Los-Shumacher of Hamburg on multiple charges relating to his alleged role in trying to sell marijuana to juveniles online.

Police were alerted to the online marijuana sales made by Los-Shumacher by a victim's parents, who remained vigilant about their children's activities both online and offline. Los-Shumacher used applications like Snapchat to coordinate the marijuana sales to the young children.

Los-Schumacher was arraigned in Hamburg Town Court on Friday on charges of Criminal Sale of Cannabis to a person under the age of 21, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Unlawfully Dealing with a Child.

He was released on his own recognizance due to the charges being non-qualifying offenses to set bail in New York State.

Hamburg police say this case emphasizes the importance of parents being aware of their children's online activities. While the internet offers a wealth of educational and entertaining information, it can also serve as a pathway for illicit communications and predators seeking to exploit young people.
