Summertime heat and humidity is here across the Buffalo-Niagara and Western New York region, and a Heat Advisory is posted for portions of the area Thursday as a result.
"Very warm and humid across all of Western New York today," National Weather Service meteorologist Tony Ansuini tells WBEN. "This will especially be the case along the south shore of Lake Ontario and Genesee Valley, where a Heat Advisory is in effect for Niagara and Orleans from noon through 8 p.m. this evening."
A Heat Advisory is in effect for portions of the area today. Warming temperatures with humidity remaining in place will result in Heat Index values in the upper 80s to mid 90s for most of the area. The Heat Advisory is in effect from 12-8 PM. #nywx pic.twitter.com/RrmoumFAim

High temperatures across the region will be mid 80's to 90 degrees.
"Combined with the humidity across the area, looking at low to mid 90's 'feel-like' temperatures," Ansuini notes.
Across the Buffalo metro area, a lake breeze will keep the temps a bit lower, however still very warm in the mid 80's.
The heat will extend into Friday, however a break is in the forecast.
"We will have a cold front that's going to move through earlier in the day, with some opportunities for some showers and thunderstorms," Ansuini says. "It won't be quite as warm as today, bust still looking at temperatures well into the 80's."
