MELBOURNE, Australia (WBEN) Buffalo's own Jessie Pegula continued her run at the Australian Open by beating Samantha Stosur in straight sets Thursday.
The 26 year old Pegula, daughter of Bills owners Terry and Kim Pegula, has never made it into the third round of a major tourney until today.
She defeated Stosur, a native Australian, 6-0, 6-1 to win her second round.
Pegula entered the tournament as the 61st ranked women's tennis player. She advanced to the second round after knocking off Victoria Azarenka in the first round on Tuesday. Azarenka was the 12th ranked women's tennis player in the world.
Her next opponent is Kristina Mladenovic of France. That match will be played on Saturday.
